Hans Jørgen Gåsemyr (PhD) is a senior researcher (affiliated) at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI).
Hans Jørgen Gåsemyr (PhD) is a senior researcher (affiliated) at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI). Gåsemyr’s main affiliation is the Department of Comparative Politics, University of Bergen, where he is a postdoctoral fellow. His background includes extensive social science and Chinese language and area studies from Norwegian and Chinese universities. His PhD and MA degrees are in political science. Gåsemyr has previously worked for the United Nations in Beijing, and he holds a journalism degree and has working experience from national broadcasting. His research and teaching focus on Chinese politics, including state-society relations, social and economic reforms and Chinese actors and interests in international affairs.
