Jamie Mackie (1924-2011) was the founding head of the Department of Indonesian Studies at the University of Melbourne (1958-67) and the founding research director in the Centre of South-east Asian Studies at Monash University (1968-78).
Jamie Mackie (1924-2011) was the founding head of the Department of Indonesian Studies at the University of Melbourne (1958-67) and the founding research director in the Centre of South-east Asian Studies at Monash University (1968-78). Mackie was the author of Problems of the Indonesian Inflation and Konfrontasi: The Indonesia-Malaysia Dispute 1963-1966. He produced scores of academic papers and wrote regularly for newspapers, both in Australia and Asia. In 2005, he wrote a book commemorating the 50th anniversary of the historic Bandung non-aligned conference.
