Dr Jennifer Hsu
Jennifer Y.J. Hsu is Associate Professor and Program Director of Research and Policy at the Whitlam Institute, Western Sydney University. She was previously working in the Australian Public Service on minerals and resources policy.
Jennifer is a former Research Fellow and Project Director of the Multiculturalism, Identity and Influence Project at the Lowy Institute, where she was lead author of the Lowy Institute’s Being Chinese in Australia: Public Opinion in Chinese Communities survey report.
After completing her PhD at the University of Cambridge in Development Studies, she researched and taught in development studies, political science and sociology in universities in North America and the UK. Jennifer is also Adjunct Associate Professor at the Social Policy and Research Centre at the University of New South Wales. Her research expertise broadly covers Chinese state-society relations, Chinese civil society, the internationalisation of Chinese NGOs and the Chinese diaspora and she has published widely in these areas.
